Digital Literacy

As a communications major, it is imperative that I strive to be able to interact with a wide selection of people across various media, and yet maintain a level of intimacy and closeness on an individual level. Since communication entered the digital age, it is easier than ever to communicate with people across the globe, and technological innovations allow users to develop a deep understanding of peoples and cultures that would once seem alien or impossibly distant. It is my goal to familiarize myself with these new forms of communication so that I may greater understand the world around me, and so that I might be prepared for new technologies as they arise, rather than find myself left in the dust. I am not particularly focused on any specific field of study, although supplementing my current knowledge of the journalism field would be preferential.
Barring that, it is my personal goal to fulfill the requirements of this class to a degree that I might obtain a passing grade, and go on to graduate from an institution of higher learning.
